Joe Mayes
Pastor Joe Mayes is the Administrative & Missions Pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where Utmost Academy is hosted. He’s been a pastor here since September of 2010 and has a history as a Youth Pastor, Lead Pastor, and his current role. Pastor Joe has a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from University of Southern Indiana and a Master of Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). Joe is also in his dissertation phase for a Doctor of Education in Ministry from MBTS. Joe is married to Alison, and they homeschool their three kids: Amelia (12), Liam (10), and Harper (8).

Course Description: NTL-612
This course offers an engaging way for students to be introduced to the literary styles and themes into the New Testament. We’ll look at the history, theology, and literature of the New Testament to try to understand it’s true meaning. We’ll dive into why we read different pieces of literature different than others in the New Testament from the teachings of Jesus to the beginning of the early church, and the mystery of Revelation. All students will be captured by the grace of God through the pages of Scripture.
