Joe Mayes


Pastor Joe Mayes is the Administrative & Missions Pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where Utmost Academy is hosted. He’s been a pastor here since September of 2010 and has a history as a Youth Pastor, Lead Pastor, and his current role. Pastor Joe has a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from University of Southern Indiana and a Master of Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). Joe is also in his dissertation phase for a Doctor of Education in Ministry from MBTS. Joe is married to Alison, and they homeschool their three kids: Amelia (12), Liam (10), and Harper (8).

Christians and non-Christians all have questions about their faith. This course will examine important questions about our faith as we study Scripture to make our case for or against Christ. This introductory apologetics course, the study of defending one’s faith, will allow for a safe environment to discuss the struggles people have with their faith. Questions like “How can the Bible be true” and “Did Jesus really raise form the dead” will be just a couple of several of our topics we will discuss and defend.
