I am a lifelong student who loves learning, and who loves to teach even more. My path through college included pre-veterinary studies, a brief encounter with engineering which took me through calculus 2, then on to liberal arts with a focus in psychology and Spanish for my B.S. in Liberal Arts from UF. My next turn took me into the dental hygiene program, earning an A.S. degree. I later entered graduate school (also at UF: Go Gators!) in entomology & nematology, until my first son was born. I always say that I haven't been bored a day since!

I practiced in the field of dentistry for 27 years as a "career," & my latest pursuit has been certification in Life Coaching. I will never stop learning. After 13 years of homeschooling my 3 children, I fell in love with teaching just about anything, but my greatest passion is teaching my students, as I did my children, to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Consumer Math for Real Life is our high school math curriculum recommended for 11th or 12th grade that fulfills an entire math credit while teaching skills your student will use in the real world. Consumer Math contains 16 different units and assesses learning through 22 real-world projects. From creating a budget, to writing a business plan, to planning and calculating the cost to floor a room, this course teaches math from a practical perspective. By the end of this course, your student will:

understand saving and investing.
learn what costs are associated with life.
know how to apply critical thinking to the real-life problems they encounter.
understand the basics of income, taxes, and employee benefits.
explore career or academic options for their life after high school.

Most importantly, they will learn that Biblical wisdom is the solid foundation on which they can make every decision. Order your book today and help your student understand that math isn't just equations in a textbook!

This is not your typical math curriculum. You won't find pages of problems to solve. Instead your teen will work on projects guiding them through THEIR possible career choices, desired lifestyle, and interests. That's why we recommend waiting until 11th or 12th grade to take this. It's simply not applicable in the early high school years.

The Answer Key for Consumer Math which includes parent instructions, project checklists, and calculation answers will be added to your account as a digital download. Please note that MANY of the answers in this curriculum are open-ended since the projects are unique to YOUR student.
