Do students attend every day?
Students need to attend only during their regularly-scheduled class times. We offer lunch time and study hall hours for an hourly fee when needed; lunch and study hall hours are selected during the registration process. Lunch has become a popular time for students to connect with others and form friendships.
Note: Students age 16 years and older may leave campus unattended between classes, unless prohibited by the parent(s).
How are grades handled by tutors at Utmost Academy?
Grading systems vary by class. At the start of each academic year, each tutor will issue an email explaining the grading procedure for their class(es). Please retain this email for future reference throughout the academic year.
Does Utmost Academy issue formal grade reports or transcripts?
We do not interfere with the authority of homeschooling parents by formally assigning grades for students. While tutors may provide percentages or other grades, parents retain the final authority for compiling grades and transcripts for their students. We serve a diverse group of students, and parents understand their children best. They know when their student(s) has given his/her best; formal grade reports may not accurately describe the student's level of effort.
What if my student is struggling and needs additional help?
Tutors may offer additional tutoring hours outside of normal class time. The rate for additional tutoring for Utmost Academy students is $30 per hour, per student. The hourly charge will be added to the tuition draft for the following month. Tuition drafts end after April 21st; however, tutoring fees for the month of May will be drafted at the end of that month.
Can Utmost Academy help with proof-of-progress and/or end-of-year evaluations?
Utmost Academy does not directly provide this service; however, an evaluator is available who does offer this service to your family at the close of each academic year. The cost is $50 per student which covers the evaluation, required documentation, and advisement services. If your student does not achieve e a "passing" score, referrals are available for assistance with a crossover evaluation which will allow you to properly address student difficulties and enable you to continue your homeschooling journey.
What makes Utmost Academy such a unique place to be?
We welcome students, parents, and grandparents to be involved on campus. We believe students benefit from seeing their family members invest in their education by serving on-campus.
Students are appreciated for the unique individuals that they were created to be. Their education should not be a one-size-fits-all experience. They each have strengths and challenges. Our tutors strive to meet each student where they are to help them embrace their God-given potential in academics and in life. We believe that you will come to cherish the years that your students attended Utmost Academy. We pray that our dedication to their well-being and their future success is reflected in our attitudes, our motivation, and our methods.
