Hello, friend! My name is Aimee Throckmorton and I am super excited to come alongside you on this adventure of homeschooling. I am a lover of Jesus who is passionate about education and “training up a child in the way they should go” according to His Word. I have been home educating for 21 years and have successfully graduated four of my eight children that have provided me with a great sense of humour! My ever expanding family is a constant source of delight which continuously reminds me of how blessed I am even on crazy tough days. I enjoy cats, dogs, baking, worship music, and hot beverages over a captivating book. As a Master Herbalist, I also love spending time in nature and am constantly amazed by the many varied works of God. There is no end to the opportunities to share and contemplate His goodness through the study of His creation and I look forward to doing that with you and your family!

Nowadays it’s fashionable to introduce “great books” to our children in their educational training. However, we will be studying the best Book—the Bible. If our children want to learn to read and think, the first and core content of their study must be the Bible. These are God’s stories, and our children should know all the stories of Scripture by the time they are reading on a fifth grade level.

Avoiding the piecemeal approach to Bible stories, the authors of this course instead present the whole story, the unity of Scripture, the true message intended by God. It is a redemptive story. While there may be moral lessons to glean here and there, the core message of Scripture is the work of God in redemption. This is the story the Bible presents from cover to cover and is the story focused on in this reading course. The workbook includes exercises for each chapter of God’s Big Story Level 4. Two types of exercises are included within this workbook. Core exercises are designed to assist children in learning new vocabulary and in reviewing the material studied in the corresponding textbook reading. Other exercises are designed to reinforce elementary concepts of grammar, spelling, composition, and handwriting. We will also cover two additional books. Book reports on each are required.
