Christiana Pomaville
Christiana Pomaville is a redheaded follower of Jesus, and she loves all things creative and true. She is a firm believer that God is unimaginably kind and that He makes all things new (she has witnessed His goodness firsthand and loves to tell about it). Christiana enjoys using her gifts of teaching and working with compassion and empathy to help others. She finds delight in working with animals, especially horses. She also has a deep love for the arts, including literature (particularly historical fiction), theater (preferably comedy), and music (preferably good). Christiana also enjoys good food, long sunny days, martial arts, the color rose-gold, and acoustic guitar.
Christiana graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and she has completed several master's classes through Liberty University. She has also gained much experience through jobs such as retail, banking, academic administration, and volunteer work. Christiana loves to help facilitate learning and community, and she looks forward to using her expertise and gifts to do so at Utmost.
The Wingfeather Saga: Book Series Study
GRADE LEVELS: 5-8th
Class: Wednesday 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 noon
Course Description:
Heroes, adventure, slice of life, growing up story, and how to overcome evil with good—all of these and more combine to make the Wingfeather Saga (by Andrew Peterson). By reading the tales of Janner, Tink, and Leeli (along with an amazing cast of side characters), the student will witness the main characters find hope in the midst of sorrow, light in the midst of darkness, and courage to learn from failures and get back up again (all of course with the help of others). This series is composed of 4 books, and it brings together genres of adventure, comedy, and fantasy.
This literature class for Grades 5 – 8 will contain the following:
Weekly in-class discussion of all four Wingfeather books in order (age-appropriate discussion of characters, morals, themes, etc.)
Weekly in-class reading out loud (multiple students at once)
Quarterly in-class, group writing project for each book (in theater-style writing).
Homework: 1 – 2 hours per week
Textbooks: The Wingfeather Saga (Vol. 1 – 4), by Andrew Peterson, published by Penguin Random House, 2020.
